What is Skuttlebot?


Skuttlebot is being created to be your robotic buddy.  Instead of going with a cute, anthropomorphic design, we are going for a more functional aesthetic.  


What is different about Skuttlebot?

The first thing is that we are a robotics company that is intentionally putting people first.  We aim to improve our quality of life as technology becomes more and more present in our lives.  As such we are developing a companion system with real, everyday utility.  It may look like a cute little dancing robot but it will be able to do so much more.  This is due to our intentionally moving a lot of the control of the robot body and into nearby assets or the cloud.  This greatly enhances our ability to deliver more functionality, and continue to update functionality over time.  The instanced AI will learn and cater itself to the individual owner.  Your skuttlebot will be unique.  But even more importantly, we strongly believe in ethical AI development and focus creating healthy experiences with our tech.

What will Skuttlebot do?


At first, we expect Skuttlebot to be a relatively simple remote control hexapod which can take some verbal commands and interact with their surroundings.  However, we fully expect Skuttlebot to improve from there, to include app integrations, leverage advancing chat functionality, scheduling functions and data protection.  Just a few items on our list by launch:
 

  • Remote control 'drone' mode and autonomous functions

  • Engaging 2 way discussions using LLM chat functions

  • Customizable voice and personality settings

  • 'Cameraman' function

  • Auto recharge functions

  • Face and emotion recognition

  • Obstacle avoidance

  • Integration with social media apps like TikTok, Instagram, etc

  • Integration with music apps like Spotify, Pandora, iTunes

  • Integration with scheduling and email apps

The Devkit for the Command module is available now

 

How much will Skuttlebot be?

 

We expect a retail price between $500 - $600 for the full model, but this will be subject to change when we get to production.

Will there be a monthly charge?

It depends.  There will be basic services that we will provide for no charge, and more advanced ones like personalized instances, data protection and other integrations for a small monthly fee between $10-$15.

 

How did Skuttlebot start?

​

During Covid, Skuttlebot was made and then put on TikTok, creating a viral sensation.
